Carmel The best way to see Carmel-by-the-Sea is on foot. Be sure to check out the over 60 hidden courtyards where many treasures are found. A short walking tour of Carmel courtyards is available at the Carmel Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center on San Carlos between 5th & 6th. Do not miss the fantastic murals of Point Lobos and beautiful highlights of the Carmel area found on the walls of Bruno's Market on the corner of Junipero & 6th and Nielson Bros. Market on San Carlos & 7th. Get in your car and take the world famous 17-Mile Drive through Pebble Beach, stopping at The Lodge and Spanish Bay for shopping, a cool drink, and a memorable meal. And plan to spend a day in the sun. Carmel Valley typically enjoys weather several degrees warmer than the coastal areas. Plan a day to drive out to Carmel Valley and wine taste, shop, eat, and enjoy the beauty. Big Sur warrants a day by itself. The scenic winding drive will put you in the mood for what's to come. Surround yourself in nature - ocean, river & redwoods... And to end the day, stop for refreshments and a sunset view at one of several resorts and restaurants in this small rustic town. Looking for sea otters? Visit Point Lobos, 3 miles south of Carmel on Highway One for sea otters in the wild. Also see the world-famous Monterey Bay Aquarium for a spectacular display of sea otters and marine life from Monterey Bay. The Carmel area has something to please everyone.
