Know your acronyms IAMSLIC = International Association of Aquatic and Marine Science Libraries and Information Centers IOC = Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission MOU = Memorandum of Understanding IODE = International Oceanographic Data & Information Exchange GEMIM = Groups of Experts on Marine Information Management ODIN = Ocean Data Information Networks

IAMSLIC-IOC Collaboration to date GEMIM has included IAMSLIC members since 1993 IOC has supported travel to IAMSLIC conferences IOC subsidizes IAMSLIC membership for ODINs The first IAMSLIC/IOC MOU was established in 2004 IOC invited IAMSLIC to participate in GLODIR, OceanExpert, OceanTeacher, OceanPortal and OceanDocs The original MOU expired in 2006 and in 2007 we began to consider projects to include in a new MOU

2008- our repositories Aquatic Commons: Aquatic Commons is one of a number of thematic digital marine and aquatic repositories. It is complementary to OceanDocs, which is supported by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) specifically to collect, preserve and facilitate access to all research output from members of their Ocean Data and Information Networks (ODINS). The records of both repositories are harvested by Avano which aggregates records from marine and aquatic repositories around the World.

2008- our repositories OceanDocs: OceanDocs is supported by the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) specifically to collect, preserve and facilitate access to all research output from members of their Ocean Data and Information Networks (ODINS). It is one of a number of complementary thematic digital marine and aquatic repositories including the Aquatic Commons, which is supported by the International Association of Aquatic and Marine Science Libraries and Information Centers (IAMSLIC) The records of both repositories are harvested by Avano which aggregates records from marine and aquatic repositories around the World.

Priorities for our next MOU? Enhance participation in PIRG (Pacific Island Regional Group) and the Pacific Islands ODIN? Outreach? Sharing expertise? Building capacity? Training? Volunteers?
