WELCOME: OUR CLASS SET UP Intro into 6 th grade Social Studies room 500 MR. SNELL

MATERIALS YOU NEED FOR EVERY SINGLE DAY! A pencil (I am not a fan of pens) Journal Folder Class notes Any handouts like: readings, assignments, directions Positive attitude Focus

CLASS CONTENT OVERVIEW Critical analysis Citations World Geo Mesopotamia Ancient Egypt Indus Valley Chinese Dynasties Economics History Government/Political Science Geography

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR Arrive to class on - time Respect (for yourself, towards others and towards myself) Responsibility Accountability Honesty Ask questions (NO MATTER WHAT!) POSITIVITY ABSOLUTELY NO NEGATIVE LANGUAGE WHATSOEVER! Raise hands Carry yourself as a mature young person. Stay in your own space Cleanliness Turn work in on time Stay focused Take solid notes and use available resources!

CLASSROOM ASSESSMENTS Daily trivia Map quizzes Content quizzes Vocab quizzes Homework Weekly or bi-weekly current events Projects Tests Active participation/effort Study guides may or may not be provided before any kind of quiz or test. Homework will be turned in on time, otherwise you will not attain full credit or any credit at all.

CLASSROOM SET UP: HOW CLASS WILL BE! Walk-in/settle in: daily trivia Homework from the previous day will be collected Review content from previous day or week 10 – 20 minute powerpoint lecture/open discussion/debates 20 – 30 minutes of in – class centers (hands – on activities) Review the day, homework and reminders of upcoming important dates, quizzes, tests or assignments Mentality – be ready to start, class starts when you walk into class Behavior – focus, actively participate, ask questions, use your time wisely or efficiently Take solid notes! Raise hands unless otherwise noted

HOMEWORK Turn in homework when it is due! Homework will cover daily in – class lessons/activities If homework is not assigned, study class notes or class materials for at least 15 minutes a night. Each week or bi – weekly there will be a current events assignment. Homework will be graded as quickly as possible. Homework will typically be no more than 30 minutes of work to be done at home (It is all about how you use your time).
