Presentation to BG; Brussels, 01/04/2004 WP 2: Deliverables D2.A and D2.C Benchmark Group Meeting – 01 April 2004 Wolfgang Helmreich (IABG), WP2.5 task leader

Presentation to BG; Brussels, 01/04/2004 D2.A: "Thematic Structure and Definitions – all Themes"  One comprehensive document covering all 30 themes.  Provides summary of framework on transport research projects, e.g. Knowledge Centre background, transport research definition, overview on research dimensions and themes, prioritisation and analysis.  Organised along the four transport dimensions: transport sectors, transport modes, sustainability policy objectives, and tools.  Each individual section provides a concise theme definition, an overview of topics included in theme, reference to its significance, and a list of sub-themes to be used for later presentation and analysis of project results.  Baseline for and input to Annual Thematic Research Summaries.

Presentation to BG; Brussels, 01/04/2004 D2.C: "Annual Thematic Research Summaries"  To be published in 30 volumes, each exclusively covering one theme from D2.A.  D2.C follows up on "Thematic Papers" introduced in the preceeding EXTRA project, and draws on lessons learnt then with presentation of project results, thematic clustering and analysis.  Expands the generic overview of D2.A to the European and national policy context, and future policy trends.  Follows sub-theme structure introduced in D2.A for clustering of project findings, subject to later review.  Annex to provide project-wise reference of concerned sub-themes, and to further point at available online resources (project websites), or project co-ordinators' contact details.

Presentation to BG; Brussels, 01/04/2004 Interrelation of D2.A and D2.C (D2.D, D2.E)  Both deliverables are living documents!  Later changes to the outline of sub-themes in any D2.C volume – possibly warranted as increasing numbers of project results become available, allowing for review of the initial selection of topics and sub-themes – will be fed back into D2.A, making sure both papers stay consistent with each other.  Regular updates of both deliverables (in PDF format) to be offered at TRKC website.  Consolidation of sub-theme structures is anticipated once significant numbers of results from completed projects (European, national and international) have become available; hence, D2.D and D2.E (and D2.A!) will then presumably require less re- organisation and fewer updates, respectively.
