Topic: PRIMARY AND SECONDARY COLOURS The basic principles of colour, theory and design are simple. One highly effective way of teaching this topic on primary and secondary colours is through creating a colour wheel. The students will use the three primary colours Red, Yellow & Blue to create the Primary colours Orange, Green & Violet.

PRIMARY AND SECONDARY COLOURS This colour wheel becomes a visual aid in helping children understand the principles of colour. It is also an excellent tool to help create harmonious color schemes for painting and colouring when using mediums such as: Paints, Chalks, Colour Pencils, Crayons and even Make-up.

Materials That you may need Paper Pencil Ruler, any objecct that allows you to produce a perfect circle Paints or Crayons or Colour Pencils (Red,yellow & blue-Primary colours). I prefer to use the paints & crayons. these mediums mix well when compared to the colour pencils

Steps Step 1. Draw circle on paper. Step 2. Using a ruler divide circle into six(6) parts. Step 3. Moving in a clockwise direction lable each sector of the circle. Step 4. Paint the #1 sector RED, #3 BLUE, #5 Yellow ( explain to the class that these colours are the Primiary colours)

steps Step 5. Mix the Red & Blue Paints, you should create the colour PURPLE. Have them paint it in the #2 Sector (Explain to the class that they have created the colour Purple which belongs to the group of Secondary colours). Step 6. Mix the Blue & Yellow paints, you should create the colour GREEN. Have them paint it in the #4 Sector (Explain to the class that they have created the colour Green which belongs to the group of Secondary colours).

Step 7. Mix the Yellow & Red Paints, you should create the colour ORANGE. Have them paint it in the #6 Sector (Explain to the class that they have created the colour Orange which belongs to the group of Secondary colours). steps
