Training Learning Objectives Audience will learn how to become a volunteer, the volunteer roles, responsibilities, and regulations of OCPS, and how to find volunteer opportunities at Windy Ridge School. Audience will become familiar with Windy Ridge staff, policies, PTA, and volunteer needs.

Two Types PTA Meetings PTA Board Meeting Held on 1 st Thursday of each month at 9:15am, usually in media. All Board Members attendance required, open to others. Plan events, organize committees, give input. PTA General Meeting At least 3 per school year, held in the evenings. Entire membership encouraged to attend. Brief, general info, mandatory voting, followed by a program.

Do not allow an elementary school child to use a paper cutter or adult scissors. Know emergency procedures and exits. Follow the established emergency plan. Never leave a child alone. Never allow a child to leave school without checking out through the main office. Safety (Rolon, 2012)
If you have doubts about a situation, ask someone with authority. If an accident occurs, immediately inform a staff member. Never move a child involved in an accident. A member of the school staff will initiate proper procedures for accidents. Safety (Rolon, 2012)
Assume responsibility for the supervision of a class. Volunteer shall never be left alone in the classroom or with a child. Assume the responsibility for the discipline of pupils. Make decisions regarding the relevancy of activities or procedures. Contact parents regarding student performance or write letters home. Volunteers Shall Not (Rolon, 2012)
