Zero Gravity Experience David Groce Lyncean Group January 6, 2010

YouTube video "Inside the Space Station" 0

The only way for astronauts to practice before any zero-gravity space mission: the Vomit Comet

But why zero-gravity training for the Mercury astronauts? Only 1.7 m 3 space! 1959 Sam 1960 Miss Sam 1961 Ham 1961 Enos 1961 Alan Shepard 1961 Gus Grissom 1962 John Glenn

Stephen Hawking Martha Stewart Ozzie Osbourne (?) Buzz Aldrin David Groce and daughter, EA What do these people have in common?

They all experienced zero gravity aboard G-Force One

This is the way they, Space Adventures, Ltd., want us to think the Zero-G experience will be! I'll tell you the way it really was! Zero-G Promotional video (3:08)

Zero-G Corp. Promotional Video "Like Nothing on Earth"

Boeing Minimum fuel; no luggage; no cargo; few windows Modified hydraulic system; accelerometers added Interior stripped and padded; modified O 2 & lighting 36? seats in rear; pilots compartment plus 3-foot storage FAA approval-10 yr; no galley or restroom; no carry-ons Others: NASA, Russia (tourists, too), EU, Ecuador!

Locations Las Vegas (9/19/09) had to arrive day early & leave day later Wanted to go in 2007; two $500 off coupons; but alas! Other future commercial locations—about 30 per year Los Angeles (2/13/10) Las Vegas (2/27/10) Dallas (3/13/10) Chicago (3/27/10) Washington, DC (4/3/10) Cape Canaveral (4/17/10) Cape Canaveral Platinum! (4/24/10) Seattle and New York (later) Charters at any location NASA, corporate, weddings Filming "Apollo 11", television "Biggest Loser" Educational and Research Flights (submit grant request)

Preflight Procedures at Hotel Table with every possible motion sickness pill! 25% on our flight (me on 10 th parabola) WILL I EXPERIENCE MOTION SICKNESS? It is very unlikely than you will experience motion sickness. The ZERO-G Experience was designed to provide flyers a fun and pleasant experience, and over the years we have succeeded in reducing the number of flyers who experience motion discomfort on G-FORCE ONE. Today, very few people experience uneasiness or nausea during the flight.

Preflight Procedures at Hotel TSA check-in Buffet breakfast (motion sickness reduced) Pre-flight briefing (30 min) Change into personal flight suits with sox Barf bags in every major pocket TSA security screenings Transfer to bus to private side of airport

Procedures at Airport Group photos at aircraft "Fasten seat belts" FAA preflight briefing Take shoes off into big bag; color-coded sox Flight to approved airspace 100 mi long by 10 mi wide by 12,000 ft thick Nellis Airforce Range (over NTS?)

Procedures at Airport A preflight briefing Take shoes off into big bag; color-coded sox Flight to approved airspace 100 mi long by 10 mi wide by 12,000 ft thick Nellis Airforce Range (over NTS?)

Flight Path (parabolas) First parabola— Martian gravity (1/3) 2 nd and 3 rd parabolas—Lunar gravity (1/6) Next 12 parabolas—zero gravity (free fall)

Zero-G video: Flight 229 blue Video not available online Contact David Groce for copy

Lessons Learned It's FUN; it is unlike any thing else (E-ticket plus) Do not take a camera of any sort—enjoy yourself 6 mounted videos & professional photographer Hard to control (my) body; there is no vertical Don't bump your head on ceiling—it hurts Plan what you want to try on the next parabola Don't eat the M&Ms—they come back up! Watch out for flying bodies & sox-covered feet

Bottom Line ($) Zero-G for 5Gs $1k per minute
