1.What will tourists soon be able to use? They will be able to use their mobile phones to get a running commentary on the sights they visit.

2. What will users of BeyondGuide soon be able to listen to? They will be able to listen to short narratives about attractions around the capital.

Where is the service available at the moment? The service is already available in Washington DC and New York City, and the company is in the process of setting up audio guides in London, Rome etc.

How does it work? It uses Voice software to allow callers to select audio content with voice prompts or the keypad on their phone or handheld computer.

Is it free now? It was free when it started but now users pay be the call, or for unlimited use over a set period – for instance, $10 for 48 hours.

What is particular about the information tourists can hear? Tourists can listen to re-enacted historical scenes or original archive material. For example, JFK’s funeral, actuality from the World Trade Center attacks.

On what kind of platforms can people receive the information? On a standard cell phone, a Wap phone, or a handheld computer. So now you can leave your heavy guidebook at home and use a lighter tech gadget instead to get interesting information about the place you will visit.
