SUIRG Background SUIRG’s Mission SUIRG is a not-for-profit international assembly of parties, within which members work towards the reduction of radio frequency interference (RFI) through pro- active programs and education.

What will be tested? Measure interference generated by WiMax Base Station (BS) and Subscriber Station (SS) transmissions into a satellite receiving station by measuring satellite channel C/N, BER and power levels

Procedure will be verified and agreed upon by the following organizations: SUIRG: (Satellite Users Interference Reduction Group) WBU-ISOG: (World Broadcasting Union – Inter Satellite Operations Group) GVF: Global VSAT Forum WIMAX Industry (and associated Organisations) CASBAA (Cable and Satellite Broadcasting Association of Asia) NAVSEA NSWCDD Q53 (US Navy) Test Program

Particular attention will be on the following: Output level from the WIMAX transmitter. Distance of the WIMX transmitter from the Satellite antenna. Angle of WIMAX transmitter from Satellite antenna bore sight. LNB signal compression If required, testing will also be conducted using different transmit frequencies from the WIMAX transmitter. Test Program

The entire testing process can be witnessed by any interested party involved in the Satellite Industry. All results will be made available within 15 days following the conclusion of testing The “TV Picture Quality” result will be based on the following: Grade 1: Excellent Broadcast quality Grade 2: Occasional Blocking, poor BER Grade 3: Frequent Blocking, Emergency Broadcasts only Grade 4: Unusable Test Program

Procedural steps A—J will be repeated upon the insertion of the band pass filter Spectrum Plots from the Analyzer will be taken at every point during procedure using the following settings: Span: 100Mhz RBW: 100Khz VBW: 1Khz 5dB/div ( or a more applicable as deemed necessary during the test) Max hold or Video Averaging Techniques may be used if deemed necessary Test Program
