AMY Meeting. 25 Feb 2011 Status.

AMY Meeting. 25 Feb 2011 AMY- First tests in Lecce AstroParticle Lab Signal Generator R&S SMB100A 9kHz to 3.2GHz The Signal Generator is optioned with Pulse Modulator and Generator, that allows to pulse inside a gate signal (Δt min = 10 ns) Power Detector ZX47-60-S+ containing AD8318 From Data Sheet Rise Time 400nsec / Fall Time 10 nsec (from -60 dBm to +5 dBm) A simple setup just to start…

AMY Meeting. 25 Feb 2011 Power Detector(ZX47-60-S+) Time response Signal Pulse Width from 10 nsec to 200 nsec 2 different frequencies (1.7 GHz and 2.6 GHz) 2 different signal amplitude (-40 dBm and -60 dBm) INPUT Signal OUTPUT Signal ( V measure on the scope) The power detector seems fully efficient only for signals having a pulse > 100 nsec A similar temporal behaviour on rise/fall. Time is much longer then specifications OPEN Questions

AMY Meeting. 25 Feb 2011 INPUT Signal Signal Pulse Width 100 nsec scan in frequencies: from 0.3 GHz to 3 GHz scan in signal amplitudes: from -90 dBm to -30 dBm noise level The power detector is sensitive for signal levels > -65 dBm. In agreement with datasheet (from -60 dBm to +5 dBm) The signal output varies with RF frequency: Power Detector-Sensible range: 1MHz-8GHz

AMY Meeting. 25 Feb 2011 LNB S-Band

AMY Meeting. 25 Feb 2011 LNB- Sensitivity to signal levels around -80 dBm

AMY Meeting. 25 Feb 2011 Trying to improve the signal/noise ratio

AMY Meeting. 25 Feb 2011 Amplifier+PowerDetector Introducing an amplifier.

AMY Meeting. 25 Feb 2011 First tests on transmission-reception. ≈500 MHz dipole.

AMY Meeting. 25 Feb 2011 Carlo has realized a small antenna for feeding the LNB. Small acquisition set-up (eventually for acquiring directly the LNB (around GHz). Investigating other Power Detectors and/or different evaluation boards. 2 more from AD as the one we have in order to modify the board Power Detector from Maxim with larger dynamic range (home made evaluation board) Trying to understand the time response FADC-> requested funding (answer 11 March) More LNBF on different bands (C, Ku). No way to test on this bands apart noise
