Copyright, 2010  WorkSTEPS, Inc. 1. Pre-Offer Agility: before offer of employment is made to a candidate, a Pre-Offer may be given to indentify whether or not individual has the physical demand capacity required to perform a level of work. No medical history collected or exams administered. Test simply establishes Physical Demand Criteria (PDC) level at which they can safely perform. Results are based only on the applicants strength, the ability to meet essential function requirements

Copyright, 2010  WorkSTEPS, Inc. 2. Post Offer Comprehensive: Candidate submits a medical history for review with a clinician, undergoes a number of medical measurements, maximum effort lifting and essential function tests to objectively quantify pre-existing conditions and cumulative traumas. Must demonstrate the capability to safely perform the essential functions of his/her job. Information may also be used as a baseline for comparison in future.

Copyright, 2010  WorkSTEPS, Inc. 3. Upper Quadrant/Carpal Tunnel: Used to determine capability as it relates to repetitive job function, may be used independently or as part of post offer comp/ and or component to injured worker Fit for Duty test.

Copyright, 2010  WorkSTEPS, Inc. Existing Employee 1.Post-Employment Physical Agility This non-medical test may be used preventatively and administered periodically to ensure existing employees continue to be able to meet the PDC necessary to safely perform essential functions of the job Employers may request this type of testing for all employees in a particular job class to ensure they remain capable of performing physically demanding job tasks This test may be utilized when an employee has been on leave and workSTEPS provider suspects that there is no legally compliant reason to collect medical measures. Is frequently used for testing employees affecting public safety, such as firefighters and police officers.

Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) A full body comprehensive medical test used to measure an employee’s functional capacity, typically post-injury, whether the injury was sustained while at work or it existed previously. Is the most involved and detailed type of functional testing.(3-6 hours)

Copyright, 2010  WorkSTEPS, Inc. 1.The FCE may be used alone to document existing impairments or used in combination with Post-Offer Comprehensive test as a comparison against original baseline data. 2.May be used to prove consistency/validity of performance and create realistic, objective rehabilitation goals, return to work recommendations, or work conditioning programs.
