Biomass By the amazing Grace M, the gorgeous Caroline and Luke.

Definition An organic material made from plant and animal waste.

Advantages Will never run out We are burning Garbage which gets rid of more land fills. Biomass can be used instead of fossil fuels Biomass can provide extra income for farmers (because we also burn crops) They do not even have to be good crops because we burn them. Wood and wood waste are already a big engery in the US.

Disadvantages Stinky!!! We are also burning food which we need to live!! Biomass creates a deadly gas called Carbon Dioxide. (trees collect Carbon Dioxide which is good that is why we need trees.) Biomass crops are not around all year. - It takes more energy to create biomass than we get out of it. It could lead to global warming.

Interesting facts Biomass is only 4% of the energy we use. A man made gas out of wood. Biomass is a solid and liquid.

How it works You burn the substances and it creates a gas and lets off heat.

JY this is another video about biomass. JY

Where is it used? In the U.S. it is mostly used in Iowa and any place where there is a lot of farming land.

a map of biomass resources

When I first thought of energy, this is what I thought it would be like. It turns out that chicken poo is very interesting.

Here is a very funny and good video on biomass JY JY :/http/ d4 this ppt. is dedicated to this song that we listened to the whole time we were making this ppt. We could not get it out of our heads. :/http/ d4

COAL Here are some amazing facts about

COAL Coal is 23% of the energy we use. Coal takes millions of years to make Coal is non-renewable.

More facts about Coal The United States produces about 20%, or 1.1 billion tons, of the world's coal Supply. Texas is the top producing coal state in the world. It uses 1 million tons a year. Each person uses about 3.8 tons of coal a year.

More even more facts Coal has been used as an energy source for hundreds of years and as old as the Roman Empire. The government receives about $11 billon in taxes and fees from the coal industry. Coal is by far the cheapest source of energy.

More, more even more facts about coal Coal can be found all over Australia. Coal was first found in 1791 by William Bryant. Coal is a dirty resource.

Thank you soooo much for watching!
