This book described the treatment of slaves and their suffering. The book turned many against slavery. Second Event An enslaved man who asked the Supreme Court for his freedom. He was enslaved and moved to a free state and wanted to remain free. Third Event John Brown was an abolitionist, who started a revolt among enslaved people. He attacked Harper’s Ferry, Virginia, an army post, to give the weapons to the enslaved people. Fourth Event Southerners were afraid if Lincoln won, then slavery would be outlawed. Southern states said they would secede if Lincoln wins. LINCOLN WINS!!!!

Road Map of Civil War Battle of Gettysburg March to Sea Ninth Event Lee’s Army met Union troops in Gettysburg, Virginia. This was the turning point in the war because Lee’s army was severely weakened. Lincoln gave the Gettysburg Address Tenth Event Gen. William Sherman led troops through battles in Georgia. He attacked Atlanta, which was a center for supplies, factories, and railroads. In Sept. 1864, he captured and burned Atlanta, GA Eleventh Event Sherman’s army cut a path across Georgia to the city of Savannah. The goal was to destroy everything that could help the South win the war. Twelfth Event Lee’s final battle took place on April 9, 1865 at Appomattox Court House in Virginia.
