Welcome to KMS!

WELCOME! I grew up in Philadelphia, PA, lived in NJ for 13 years, and moved to AZ 6 years ago I’m a multi-published, best-selling author of urban fantasy and paranormal romance Three former students have won national writing contests, a fourth, fifth, and sixth won here in Phoenix! I have a wonderful husband, David, and two blessed daughters – Sara, soon to be 17, and Rebecca, 13 Writing is a passion of mine, and I’m a classic musicals addict I love scrapbooking, chocolate, and all types of music I can’t tell a joke, but I love laughing at them I’m goofy and good-natured with the kids, but serious about writing and reading

-Social Studies- A Journey to Different Places and Times

6 th Grade Curriculum—Core Topics Importance of river valleys to the development of civilization Early Paleolithic and Neolithic ages Egyptian Civilization Mesopotamia China India Greek Civilization Roman Civilization Compare Eastern and Western Religions Byzantine Empire Renaissance Age of Exploration Geography Economics

The Classroom The teacher facilitates learning. (Someone has to be in charge.) The teacher, not the bell, dismisses the class. (Mrs. Rosenblum is in charge.) You are only as good as your leader. (Mrs. Rosenblum has high expectations.) Students are expected to turn in work on time. (Late work will not be accepted after five school days and there will be a percentage loss of points for each day late.) Respect is always welcome. (Whatever you receive is merely a reflection of what you’ve given.)

Grading Scale ARange 80-89BRange 70-79CRange 60-69D Range 59 or belowF Range

Grades Grades will be calculated based on assessments, classwork, and homework. Assessments comprise 80% of a student’s grade and classwork and homework 20%. Some examples of assessments are quizzes, tests, projects, labs, lab reports, and reading response assignments. Classwork and homework grades will be a combination of in class and assigned homework. There is no extra credit. Students and parents can access the online gradebook year-round using the “Parent-Vue” and “Student-Vue” login pages, accessible from the Kyrene website.

Tardy Policy Students are expected to be in their seat working when the bell rings. Students will receive one warning for their first tardy. If students receive any additional tardy marks, they will be assigned a lunch detention.

Make-up Work It is the responsibility of the student to retrieve missing work when returning from an absence. Students have the same number of days that they were absent to make up any work. If students are absent the day before a test or quiz, they will be expected to take the test or quiz the day they return. If a student is absent the day of an assessment, they are expected to take it the day they return. Late work will be accepted within one week of the original due date for partial credit. Work turned in after one week will not be accepted

Organize! D on’t let this happen to you…

Communication Please me if you have a question or need to talk with me. You can also leave a voice message ( ) and I will try to return your call during the next business day. You can also reach the team calendar via the Kyrene website.
