South Asia Youth Summit Organized by LYSA Hosted by CPPR

Objectives Build a vibrant and dynamic South Asia with a liberal foundation. Facilitate exchange of ideas and to share best practices Platform to 100 youth leaders from South Asia facilitate liberal dialogue on various policy issues confronting the region. Develop common working theme for AND above all – to show South Asian political leaders that barriers can be broken and dialogue can be achieved through common platforms to resolve common issues.

How do we plan to achieve this? Participants will be divided into working groups. There are altogether 8 working groups Participants from each country have been placed in the same working group due to geographical/ regional commonalities

9 working groups are Afghanistan Nepal Pakistan Bhutan Bangladesh Sri Lanka India 1 – Delhi India 2 – Rest of India excluding Delhi

What do you do in the groups You are required to answer three questions – – What kind of a relationship exists between the issue of the session and governance in your region/ country? – Do you think it’s a compatible relationship? – What are the alternative measures that you would suggest to address problems in the relationship?

Why are we answering these questions? All the sessions planned for the conference lead us to the one common theme of Governance. If we as Young people want to make an impact then we need to start analyzing and constructively advising governance for a better performance and a better today and tomorrow for us.

What exactly do we mean by Governance? Governance for us is represented by State, laws, authorities, e.g. – Ministries – Government Bodies – Parliaments – Cabinets – Public corporations/ authorities

What would the ideal form of governance look like? Democratic Decentralized and devolved Transparent Accountable Managed efficiently and effectively

Managing logistics By the end of 24 th Nov, each group is required to elect a representative for Summit Declaration Committee Please give the names to Ms. Malathy. The questions need to be answered and given to the organizers before Session V on 25 Nov, during Tea Break. During Session VII on 25 Nov, the proposed declaration and sub themes for further action planning will be shared in the plenary for further comments and suggestions
