Update February 2013 Carrie Jester

University Investment in All IT Services $190M 1375 people = $124M Technology = $66M

IT Synchronization Project Focus Looking for opportunities to “flip” IT investment 31% (429) 69% (945) New Services & Functions Emerging Technology Infrastructure Maintenance

Hitting the Target on Success comes from unity, not a centralized or decentralized model

Opportunities There are many opportunities across campus can benefit from Efficiency: Flip IT investment toward faculty-focused services We started with 135 systems, now down to 50 and still consolidating. Effectiveness: Easy access to powerful tools for teaching, learning, and research. Digital First: providing faculty the opportunity to offer engaging digital learning content to students. Collaboration Services: we will be focused on providing more and stronger services Risk: Enabling safe worldwide collaboration. Security: Protecting your intellectual capital.

Benefits We all benefit from the approach  Move College & Department IT investment from core services ( , networks, etc) to technology that facilitates the academic pursuits of faculty.  Help faculty be EVEN MORE productive in research, teaching, and outreach.  Increase cross-university and cross-department collaboration.  Collaboration with other institutions.  Protect faculty research and intellectual capital from global threats.
