Budget Status -- FY 2007 Budget Status -- FY 2007 President’s budget same level as FY 2006 for NCHS Impact from CDC-wide appropriations is unclear Continued cost increases will have to be absorbed Further survey reductions will be needed to address the impact of permanent funding at this level

Good Morning Pleased to be here for this Partner Update The Vitality of NAPHSIS is tremendous and I congratulate all of you and your leadership.  Shows in the extensive and highly substantive agenda. It’s an important time for you and for NCHS, particularly because of the emergence of health information technology as a priority for this Secretary as well as the president. This morning I’d like to bring you up to date on a number of topics that either directly or indirectly affect the Nations’ vital statistics system. Relates to several other activities of the Department, NCHS and CDC:

Performance Assessment Rating Tool Systematic method of assessing the performance of program activities across the Federal government. First used by the Office of Management and Budget in FY 2004 Continues to be an important initiative across the Federal government
