Creating Book Trailers in iMovie

Before You Begin… 0 Choose or create visuals to represent and illustrate the story 0 Pictures/Photos (taken on a camera or from the internet) 0 Video 0 Animation (Claymation, Stop Motion, etc.)

Beginning and Visuals 0 Start a new project in iMovie and choose a name 0 Select photos or video from the camera roll or photo library (each photo/clip is added to the timeline below)

Editing Visuals 0 Adjust the length of each photo by expanding/shrinking its box on the timeline 0 Double tap the photo to add text or change the title style 0 Tap the box between photos/clips to edit transitions

Audio 0 Again, keep in mind the tone of the book and the mood you want to set for the video 0 Music: 0 Use pre-existing theme music 0 Open another music file in iMovie, add to your project (automatically lays audio over visuals) 0 Voiceover: select microphone icon above timeline

Editing and Reviewing 0 Change project settings or undo an action (top right corner) 0 Change theme, music, fading, etc. 0 View using the play button directly below the preview screen

Finish and Share 0 Return to start screen 0 Select “Share online or send to iTunes” 0 Share to iTunes, social media, or camera roll

Tips 0 Keep in mind the tone of the book and the mood that you want to set for the video 0 Keep it brief- usually under three minutes. Seconds feel much longer in videos!
