Presentation transcript:

FIRST!!! Grab a basketball and place your stronger hand on the center of the ball. AND Place your weaker hand on the side of the ball. Like this

MAKE SURE The hand on the side of the ball is used to aim your shot. AND Your stronger hand on the middle of the ball is what actually shoots the ball in the air.

Hold the ball Out in front of your face Bend your knees like a Z And square your body in front of the hoop like these kids

Once you are squared toward the basket, extend your knees and jump up into the air. As you are jumping in the air extend your shooting arm towards the basketball hoop.

FLICK YOUR WRIST! Once your arms are totally extended flick your wrist up above your head like you are grabbing a cookie out of a cookie jar

Follow through your shot! The most important part of your shot is your follow through. It helps get the basketball to the hoop!

Aim your shot You have two spots to aim the basketball. They are: 1.The basketball rim or 2.The square on the backboard behind the rim

Arch Make sure you put some nice arch on the ball. Having a high arch will increase the chance for the ball to go into the rim. through.

Practice!!! Practice makes perfect! The more you practice the better your shot will get and the more fun basketball will be!

Learn From the Best! If you want to be the best you have to learn from the best! Click this picture to watch Kobe Bryant give a lesson on how to shoot many different kinds of shots!

DRILL Find five spots within the 3-point arch and take twenty shots from each.
