Session Speakers Doug Belkofer – EFI Mark Bohan - GATF Freddy Pieters – Esko Graphics Rainer Prosi- Heidelberg Koen van de Poel – Agfa
Developer Session The Afternoon sessions are designed to dive into the intricacies of JDF and Workflow Interactions at a level that is one step deeper than the tutorial in the morning. Participants will discuss newest developments in JDF. Interoperability and Certification efforts by CIP4 are also addressed.
Agenda –JDF Interoperability –JDF Product Certification –JDF and Management Information Systems –Gray Boxes Break –Imposition in JDF –Messaging with JMF –CIP4 JDF Toolkits
Interoperability with JDF CIP4 Interoperability Events –Who participates? –What happens? Interoperability Conformance Specifications –ICS status –Review of planned ICS documents JDF Product Certification –What level of interoperability will Certification guarantee? Coexistence and Relationship of JDF Capabilities and ICS

Interoperability Events CIP4 has hosted five interoperability test events: –2003: May (San Jose, CA), September, December (Orlando, FL) –2004: February (Zofingen, Switzerland), July (Vancouver, BC) Next Meetings –2004: October (Kyoto, Japan) –2005: January (Heidelberg, Germany), April (Pittsburgh, PA) 60+ Participants from 20+ Companies Events are closed door Goals are: –Enhance the standard and increase interoperability –Testing of integration of products from various vendors –Pinpoint ambiguous areas in the specification –Avoid multiple, incompatible JDF Dialects –NOT to focus on finding scapegoats / heroes
Interoperability Certification What does it mean to be certified as “JDF Compliant”? –Nothing –Sending RIPing instructions to a folding machine isn’t very useful, even if it is fully compliant with the spec. So how does certification work, and what does it mean to be certified? –Mark Bohan is up next to explain all of that to you!
