Planner- Every day a brief description of what was covered in class will be noted in the planner. Homework will be highlighted. We ask that you look at this daily if possible and sign on Thursday nights. We will check them on Fridays. Homework – Consistent weekly homework will be in a menu format. Homework should take no more than 40 minutes a night. Please notify us if you see this is not happening. Thursdays – Your child will bring home a Thursday folder which will include notes from school, and graded papers and projects from the teachers. Please return on Friday, unless other arrangements have been made with the teacher.

Lunch and Snack Lunch is from 11:30 to 12:00. Visitors are welcome… please sign in at the front office. You may bring food for your child only. You will need to sit at our “guest table” with your child only. A snack opportunity is provided at 2:00. Please follow the “One-handed, healthy” rule. Recess Recess will follow lunch from 12:00 – 12:30. We will have 30 minutes of recess every day… weather permitting.

Classroom Management We will be using a checkbook system to help us monitor behavior in our classroom. Each child will begin the six-week grading period with $ Each six- weeks, the child will get to “start fresh” with a new checkbook and balance. Dollars may be added for positive behaviors that exceed expectations. Dollars may be subtracted for behaviors that do not meet expectations. Behaviors will be documented in the checkbook. If the student has to deduct a dollar, there will be a conversation held between the teacher and student. The student will be given the opportunity to practice the correct behavior. Students will be able to purchase rewards at designated times throughout the six-week period for certain amounts of “money”.

If you wish to volunteer you MUST fill out a background check every year. You can do this online through the LISD website.

School starts promptly at 8:00. They must be in the room by the 8:00 bell or they are counted tardy. Please remember that the 4 th grade classes are quite a distance from the front of the school.
