TEA Updates: TAC Changes Adopted Amendments to 19 TAC Chapter 74, Curriculum Requirements, Subchapter G, Graduation Requirements, Beginning with School Year Summary: The adoption revises course options for students to satisfy the mathematics requirement under the Minimum High School Program, Recommended High School Program, and Distinguished Achievement Program. The amendments were adopted without changes from what was published as proposed. Effective Date: August 24, 2015

TEA Updates: TAC Changes Adopted Amendment to 19 TAC Chapter 111, Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for Mathematics, Subchapter C, High School, §111.43, Mathematical Models with Applications, Adopted 2012 (One-Half to One Credit) Summary: The adoption modifies the amount of credit that could be earned for the course and eliminates language requiring a course sequence, which is inconsistent with graduation requirements. The amendment was adopted without changes from what was published as proposed. Effective Date: August 24, 2015

General Updates: iTunes U TASA has added a new Algebra I digital resource collection on iTunes U that is free to access Math Models will be released in January Includes elementary, middle school, and high school core content, college preparatory, CTE, and advanced academics resource collections — a total of 62 with the newest additions. Each is designed to foster creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking skills in an engaging, digitally rich learning environment.
