UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION, WINNEBA COMPUTER MOTHER BOARD BY AUGUSTINE NYARKO ARHIN C0URSE CODE:ICTE 114 LECTURER:EMMANUEL FONT TATA

OVERVIEW  My Aim:  To demonstrate online learning to students  My Objectives :  All students must know all about computer motherboards and understand all about it.  Your learning outcome:  Students must be able to answer all questions about computer mother boards.

MOTHERBOARD  A motherboard also known as system board or main board is the main circuit board inside the system unit connecting all computer components together so that information and instructions can move between them.it allows input and output devices to communicate with the system unit.

The motherboard consist of sockets, slots and buses.  SOCKETS : provides a connection point in which one or more microprocessors or CPU’s are installed  Disk controllers for floppy drives, CD drives and hard disks

 SLOTS : slots provide connection point for specialized cards or circuit. These cards provides expansion capabilities for a computer system. There are different types of slots. These are :  Industry standard architecture[ISA]  Enhanced industry standard architecture[EISA]  Micro channel architecture[MCA]  Video Electronics standard Association[VESA]  Accelerated Graphics Port[AGP]  Peripheral component interconnect[PCI]  Personal computer memory card international association[PCMCIA].

 BUSES[or collecting lines]:Buses provides pathways that support communication among the various electronic components that are either located on the motherboard or attached to the mother board.

TASKS  ALL VIRTUALLY IMPERSED STUDENT MUST BE TO ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS ABOUT MOTHERBOARD AFTER THIS LESSON.
