 Put all food or drinks in the designated place in the lab.  If you have an ice pack, you must move your chair away from the computer until you are done using it. Then throw it away. No ice packs near the computers.

Helpful hint: First hold down ctrl and alt with your left hand. Then tap the delete key. Let go. Make the peace sign with your left hand.

Type or key your student user name in the first box. Make sure you do not have any spaces before or after the username. Then press the tab key to move the cursor to the Password box. In the Password box, type your password, which is your ID number or lunch number. If you make a mistake, tap the backspace key and start over.

Note: When you type in the password, all you will see are black dots. After you have entered the user name and password, click OK or tap the Enter key on the keyboard.

Note: If your computer beeps, it means there was a mistake with the user name or password. Click OK and try again.

Do not touch the screen. 1.They must be cleaned with special expensive cleaner and are hard to clean. 2.The screen will dent and get scratched very easily!

Your headphones are plugged into the “speaker bar”. To raise and lower the volume, turn the dial. A green light indicates the sound is “on”.

 Before standing up, be sure to take your headphones off. Oh no! She forgot to take off her headphones before getting up!

 Be sure to log off. Go to the green start button and click the yellow key icon that says “log off”. Then click log off again in the new window. The last class of the day should click Shut Down. Leave the power button on the monitor alone—it will go to sleep.

 When you sit down in your chair, pull yourself towards the computer. Pull your chair with your hands, not the table.

 Getting up—If your feet do not touch the ground, twist your legs to the side of the chair, and pull your chair back. Be careful not to shake the table. The monitor might fall off the back of the CPU.

 Getting up—if your feet touch the ground, you may use your feet to help move the chair.

 Standing up—Do not push on the table. You will scratch the floor. Also you might shake the monitor and have it slide off the back of the CPU. Do not get up like this!

 NEVER touch the power button on the CPU or monitor for any reason.

Teacher notes Monitor = sleeping CPU = on Monitor = on/awake CPU = on Monitor = off CPU = on Gently slide the mouse to wake the computer up. Be careful not to try to turn “on” the computer here. The light is green. Your monitor is just off. This is how your machine should look when you go home at night. The CPU was shut down, and the monitor went to sleep.

When working independently,  Gently put your helping hand in the clip and continue working if you can.  Do not get up out of your seat.  Do not call out your teacher’s name.  Once your teacher comes and helps you, take down your helping hand.

When your teacher is standing in the front of the room teaching,  Raise your hand like you would normally do in your classroom.

 Remember rule 3, and stay in your seat after you print. Your teacher will bring your paper to your seat when it comes out of the printer.

Do not type in any URL’s into the address bar. You may only click on existing links your teacher has created for you in advance. Do not move ahead of the class. No “surfing” the web. Do not copy information, files, images, or ideas from the Internet and use them as my own. (Always cite your source and get permission.) Stealing work is wrong.

 Do not change any settings.  Do not move any icons around on the desktop or change any of their names.  Do not save to the desktop. Always save to your H: drive. Although you can open files from the K: drive that your teacher wishes to share with you, you cannot save to the K: drive.

Someone has changed the background! Tell your teacher immediately! This is against the AUP rules, and that student may lose your right to use the computer.

Someone has changed the screen saver! Tell your teacher immediately! This is against the AUP rules, and that student may lose your right to use the computer.

 If we work together as a school, we can keep the computer lab a nice place to learn for everybody.  Just like the textbooks you use at school, you and your parents are responsible for any damage.
