The Blitz! It started a year late On September 7 th 1940 It started in London So because it was a city more children were evacuated. The bombing of Britain was nothing new to those who had lived through the First World War. Germany had carried out 103 bombing raids on Great Britain during Word War 1. Their main targets being Industrial cities, munitions factories and Army camps.
Rationing! Rationing started in January Marmalade, Treacle and syrup were starting to be rationed in Sweets were rationed as well as other foods in 1942 which everyone enjoyed. Everyone had a little ration book to keep up to date with their foods.
Evacuation! Evacuation started as soon as the war began Children were sent to the country because it was the safest They stayed with people they did not know who spoke different languages Lots of children missed their parents very much.
