A passage to India 印度之旅
The first impression of India in this movie. I think India is a mess, but very colorful country. They like the color especially red, gold and white.
As same as British In dresses 1.both of them wear different hats in different places. It symbols that the power and caliber. 2.No matter India or British women they always dress on dresses. 3.All women like jewels and necklaces.
Different with British In dresses 1.India is colorful but British is simple. 2.India uses one cotton as their clothes, but British is particular about cutting.
Religion
India believe that people will come back to the world. It is a cycle, so they don ’ t like to fight, conflict and peace. ( Godbole says: Life is a wheel with many spokes. A continuous cycle of life birth, death and rebirth until we attain nirvana. )
British esteem the part of personality and personal space. They are polite. When Ronny and Adela went to see a game of polo. She want to reject the marriage. Her words was very circuitous and serious.
They all believe God. Mrs. says: God is here. “ God has puts on earth to love and help our fellow men. ”
Food and drink
India can sit on the ground and eat with their right hand fingers. When Aziz got fever and Mr. Fieding went to see him. He was very embarrassing.
British has their own rules on the table. For example: drink ports for ladies or whisky soda for men the glasses are not the same.
The Marabar expedition, Dr. Aziz has to prepare table, chairs and drinks. They thought English ladies cannot sit upon the ground not even on a Persian carpet.
“East is east. It’s about culture.” The culture of east and west is not the same in those parts: 1.children:Aziz wants to have his own child, but Fielding is not. 2.rank:British ’ s rank is higher than India. The India servant of British the rank is higher than India. The lowest rank is India ’ s servant.
In this movie: All India thought they are mess and shame their place. Godbole: I think perhaps, young lady, they grew a shamed of their house and that did not send.
