Support groups, survey distribution 4-5 months post training, qualitative interviews How many? 30 survey respondents 68% return, 10 interviews 23% uptake Who was involved? Staff who undertook 2 day HC training in 2010 and belonged to EIiCD program, Rural Health Alliance Network Coordinator, EIiCD Project Officer

To be recognised as a leader in rural health and community services 40% respondents identify immediate implementation of training Greatest barriers limiting use HC into practice are time (44%) and ‘how’ to implement (40%) 50% respondents report using HC with 50% of their clients Qualitative interviews confidence for staff is <7 for 90% respondents Most frequently used tool is RIC® at start goal setting and goal setting process

To be recognised as a leader in rural health and community services Consider pre testing of staff knowledge in area of evaluation Screening of individuals prior to organisation directed mandatory training to investigate staff motivation to undertake training and/or change work practices Key strategy to promote perceived value of the training, clearly articulating benefits to employees Organisations to nominate what return on investment justifies costs?
