Death, Burial, & Resurrection of Jesus  I Corinthians 15:1-4 – “that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures”

Responses to Jesus’ Death, Burial, & Resurrection  Soldiers Guarding Jesus

Soldiers Guarding Jesus  Matthew 28:  (11) “the guard came into the city and reported to the chief priests all the things that had happened”  (12-13) “they have a large sum of money to the soldiers saying, “Tell them, His disciples came at night and stole Him away while we slept”  (15) “they took the money and did as they were instructed; and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day”

Soldiers Guarding Jesus  Choosing to ignore Jesus, is a response of some people.  II Peter 3:5 – “this they willfully forget” (deliberately ignore)  John 5:39-40 – “But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life”

Philosophers at Athens  Acts 17:16-32 –  (18) “He seems to be a proclaimed of foreign gods, because he preached to them Jesus and the resurrection”  (20) “you are bringing some strange things to our ears. Therefore we want to know what these things mean”  (31) “He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead”  (32) “when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked”

Philosophers at Athens  Sadly, many people mock even today.  Matthew 27:27-31 – “they bowed the knee before Him and mocked Him”  I Corinthians 1:18, 23 – “the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing”

Ethiopian Eunuch  Acts 8:26-39 –  (31) “How can I, unless someone guides me?”  (35) “Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him”  (36) “What hinders me from being baptized?”  (37) “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God”  (38) “both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him”  (39) “and he went on his way rejoicing”

Ethiopian Eunuch  Joyfully, there are many honest hearts that are seeking to know more about Jesus & come to Him in obedience.  Acts 2:37 – “Men and brethren, what shall we do?”  Acts 9:3-6 – “Lord, what do You want me to do?”

Responses to Jesus’ Death, Burial, & Resurrection  Jesus died for us so that we could be free from sin  Have you come to Jesus that you may be free from your sins?  His burial & resurrection give us the hope that we will be raised and can live forever in heaven  Have you been saved that you may have this hope of eternal life?  What is your response to Jesus’ Death, Burial, & Resurrection?
