Teaching Aims: Train the students’ reading ability. Learn some useful words and expressions. Get the students to learn about table manners in western countries.

Teaching important points: Learn and master the following useful expressions: make a good impression, be close to, a little bit, start with, keep silent, too much Help the students understand the passage better.

Teaching Difficult Point: How to help the students understand the passage exactly,especially the following sentences: The knife and fork that are closest to your plate are a little bit bigger than the ones beside them. In China,you sometimes get a hot, damp cloth to clean your face and hands, which, however,is not the custom in Western countries. When drinking to someone’s health, you raise your glasses,but the glasses should not touch. Although good manners always make you look good, you do not need to worry about all these rules while having dinner with your friends or family.

Teaching Methods: Discussion to compare table manners in China with that in Western countries. Fast reading and careful reading to understand the passage exactly.

Teaching Aids: A projector and some slices. A blackboard.

Teaching Procedures: Step 1:Greeting and Leading-in Step 2:Presentation
