Biography: Gio De La Torre 2 nd semester freshman Before this semester I was going to be a chemical engineer :’( Now my major is Computer Engineering (hardware) This class reminded me of how entertaining, and annoying, it is to program robots. I’ve learned the proper modus operandi for programming and a handful of interesting electrical terms. I plan on doing and learning as much as I can while I’m at UF and hopefully along the way figure out exactly what I want to do for the rest of my life. Do everything you can now because in a few years, it’ll all be gone.

Biography: Jonathan Ganyer 2 nd Semester Sophomore Planning on Electrical Engineering major with Writing minor. I learned that I wasn’t the only person at UF who was Puerto Rican and looked white. This course will affect me by making me more competent in my understanding how circuits, sensors and motors work. I will be more proactive in joining clubs while at UF. I want to make the first electrical engineering magazine at UF.

Jonathan Ganyer cont. I want to start a publishing company (E Major) after working at General Electric for 5 years. I want to use my aptitude for writing to create a bridge between casual and technical audiences to garner new interest in engineering. The only way to succeed is to get out there and join clubs and become involved in activities. Take steps at your own pace and enjoy the platform you’re given in college to make connections and don’t forget to have some fun. And pray you’re not on the other end of budget cuts.

Biography: Paula Rose 2 nd semester freshman Electrical Engineer I have learned the value of teamwork and having fun while working This course reassured my choice to stay with engineering and I would like to get involved with projects held here. I would like to make a robot from scratch. I would also like to work in New York City as a successful engineer. Be organized, always.

Biography: Peterson Pierre-Louis 2 nd Semester Freshmen Electrical Engineering I learned of the many beneficial applications of robotics and computer programming to my daily life This course has shown me that in order to become a great engineer Id have to expand my mind to various possibilities that society would otherwise think to be impossible. I plan to work for a technological company as a part of its leading engineering team. Words of wisdom: Think long and hard about where you would like to be in the future, then find the necessary avenues that would most like get you there.

Biography: Michael Brown 2nd semester Freshman Electrical Engineer I learned that some classes at UF can actually be fun and helpful at the same time! This course will positively affect my GPA in the future. I plan on surviving college and acquiring a job that makes me a decent amount of money.

Randy: Menace or Hero? Free Agent Quarterback Tim Tebow has been incarcerated for his alleged participation in a series of rigged games during the NFL season. Rumors circulating around the world say that Tebow made a deal with corporate executives for 56 million dollar endorsement deals. People speculate that Tebow may have stashed his money in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on the campus of the University of Florida. It has been reported that Tebow was broken out of prision by a team of engineers known as the French Toast Mafia.

What Have We Learned? The most important thing to take out of this entire experience is that humans and robots can live together in peace and harmony. More importantly, chaos theory runs robotics. Your program could be flawless, your parts at maximum capacity and something infinitesimally small could go wrong that could end in your robot hitting a wall, going the wrong way or exploding. Moral of the story, you have no chance of beating the system.

The Silver Lining All of those things that can go wrong with your robot are the things that make robotics fun. Your program will never be perfect, your robot will never be perfect but learning to manage with an increasingly chaotic system and still accomplishing a goal is the kind of practical experience that they don’t teach you in lecture. Go out, try new things, discover and learn!
