Man’s Response to God’s Offer of Grace
We Are Saved By Grace Ephesians 2:4-9 This grace requires faith on our part v.8,9 Titus 3:4-7 God showed His kindness and love for us We did not receive through our good deeds We are saved because of His mercy We are saved through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit
Our Response Titus 2:11-14 God’s grace also requires us to: Deny ungodliness Deny worldly lusts Live soberly, righteously, and godly Patiently waiting in hope Be zealous of good works God’s grace teaches us to repent Romans 2:4
Romans 5:6-8 Jesus did what we could not do for ourselves God gives us grace we do not deserve God did this because He loves us Our Response Romans 10:8-17
The saving word must be in our hearts and mouths v.8 (belief and confession v.9-10) It must be preached v.14 We must first hear it v.17 Romans 10:9-10 Belief is an internal assent Confession is external assent Results are salvation and righteousness
Acts 2:36-38 They heard the truth about Jesus It pierced their hearts They asked, “What shall we do?” Acts 2:38 Repent is an internal commitment Be baptized is an external commitment The results are remission of sins and gift of the Holy Spirit
