Why these Materials? Foundation (Pier and Beam): Longer lasting, safer, energy efficient, cost effective Framing (Southern Pine Wood): No vinyl; vinyl can release harmful toxins into the air. Internal Covering (Bamboo): 100% biodegradable, harvested more frequently than wood. External Coverings (ThermoCellit): clay blocks, thermal insulation, and moisture protection. Paints (Low VOC): Decreases the amount of chemicals let into the air. Roofing (Fiber Cement Composite Roofing): Long lasting, fireproof, and recyclable. Windows (Double-pane with glazing): Add gas to between panes to increase insulation. Doors (made by Liberty Valley Doors): Made from Salvaged Material and overlaid with recycled Douglas Fir.

Geothermal Energy We chose to use Geothermal because it is the most consistent energy source. Water is abundant on the Earth’s surface, we are using natural resources by heating up the water inside of the Earth. We chose to use the Flash Steam Power Plant because water is plentiful in our area, and easy to obtain.
