Our Eco-Friendly Home

Our Floor Plan

What makes our home eco- friendly? FoundationPier and Beam Foundation FramingSouthern Pine Wood Internal CoveringsBamboo External CoveringsThermoCellit clay blocks PaintsPaints with low VOC RoofingFiber Cement Composite Roofing WindowsDouble pane windows with glazing DoorsMade my Liberty Valley Doors

Why these Materials? Foundation (Pier and Beam): Longer lasting, safer, energy efficient, cost effective Framing (Southern Pine Wood): No vinyl; vinyl can release harmful toxins into the air. Internal Covering (Bamboo): 100% biodegradable, harvested more frequently than wood. External Coverings (ThermoCellit): clay blocks, thermal insulation, and moisture protection. Paints (Low VOC): Decreases the amount of chemicals let into the air. Roofing (Fiber Cement Composite Roofing): Long lasting, fireproof, and recyclable. Windows (Double-pane with glazing): Add gas to between panes to increase insulation. Doors (made by Liberty Valley Doors): Made from Salvaged Material and overlaid with recycled Douglas Fir.

Appliances Used: LG White Front Load Washing Machine Price: $ Kilowatt Hrs. Per year: 148  Uses less water  3.5 cu. ft. means fewer loads; saving time and energy  1050 RPM spin speed extracts  more water; so clothes dry faster.

Appliances Used LG 4.2 cu. ft. Capacity Electric Dryer Price: $1049 Power Rating: UL Listed 1210/240 V.15 Amps  Vent less condensing drying system: dries clothes without the need for external venting  NeverRust stainless steel Drum: Durable Drum that allows for efficient drying, therefore saving time and energy.

Geothermal Energy We chose to use Geothermal because it is the most consistent energy source. Water is abundant on the Earth’s surface, we are using natural resources by heating up the water inside of the Earth. We chose to use the Flash Steam Power Plant because water is plentiful in our area, and easy to obtain.

Costs: Geothermal vs. Propane System Geothermal:Propane: Yearly Cost of Operation: $949.42$ Monthly Cost:$76.16$ Installation Cost: $18000$8000

Circuits In our home, we chose to use parallel circuits.
