What words do you think about? a health care system?

Health care system refers to services that address health needs. the ottawa charter changed the atmosphere for governments and their people who were sick and to also look at the conditions (social and economic) that make it difficult for individuals to achieve good health.

Medicare since 1984 provides universal health cover to people on the basis of medical needs rather than their ability to pay. Medicare's objectives - make heath care affordable for all - make health care accessible for all - provide high quality care

Medicare does coverDoes not cover free treatment as a public patient in a public hospital free or subsidised treatment by medical practitioner’s including GP’s, specialists, participating optometrists or dentist (for specialised services only) private patient hospital costs dental examination and treatments ambulance services glasses/contacts, prostheses, hearing aids home nursing medicines medical services that are not clinically necessary

PBS Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme its a scheme whereby the government pays part of the cost of prescription medications. the cost to customer’s is fixed. In 2009: - $ pension or healthcare card $5.30 there are many drugs available which means that Aust. can buy reasonably-price medications for most conditions. The Aust. PBS is one of the most effective in the world.

Private Insurance Is not compulsory, and is provided by private organisations. the government runs incentives for people to take up private health insurance- easy the burden on the healthcare system

Added benefits include: choice of doctor choice of hospital choice of timing aids for paramedical services aids and appliances e.g. glasses
