CANCUN DECISION Decision -/CMP6 : Further guidance relating to the clean development mechanism Regional and Sub-regional distribution and capacity- building Welcomes the work of the DNA Forum, which could contribute to broader participation in the CDM through, inter alia, the sharing of information and experience; (para 61) Requests the Executive Board to enhance its interaction with the DNA Forum; (para 62)

Decision -/CMP6 : Further guidance relating to the clean development mechanism EB Concerns re Regional/Sub-Regional Distribution & Capacity Building vis-à-vis CMP6 Decisions to accelerate the development of top-down baseline and monitoring methodologies to support the enhancement of the regional distribution of CDM project activities by intensifying the provision of focused and targeted support to assist DNAs to include in baseline and monitoring methodologies that will project anthropogenic emissions by sources

DNA Forum Activities Related to Regional Distribution discussion of actions to be undertaken in relation to EB decisions on regional distribution during its regular meetings and regional group meetings conduct of regional DNA forum meetings that will allow interaction with project participants, project developers and investors or that will coincide with promotional activities on CDM of the region conduct of workshops on improving the regional distribution of projects (for countries with fewer than 10 projects) with one-on-one project consultation with project developers/financers conduct of DNA Training needs survey and actual training on CDM project cycle/case studies and VVM

To provide inputs to EB related to additionality and standard baselines & grid emission factor (including sharing of national communication) To provide information on default values, benchmarks, including clarification and promotion regarding transport sector. To develop national procedures on SD monitoring by respective countries to be shared within region To avail of training on grid emission factor organized by the Secretariat To organize regional DNA Forum meetings and workshops with the Secretariat Feedbacks from DNA Forum Meetings

Participation in the CDM Roundtable meetings as arranged by secretariat and to provide inputs to the agenda Regular participation of an EB representative (e.g. EB Chair/Vice-Chair) in the DNA Forum meetings Regular attendance of the DNA Co-Chairs in EB meetings Conduct of a workshop on standardized baseline with participation of the EB (the secretariat to facilitate in finalizing this proposal as requested in previous DNA forum meetings) Conduct of regular hearings to give the DNAs the opportunity to present their concept of standardized baseline (as well as guidelines for GEF) To establish sustained online communication with the EB thru the Secretariat DNAs Proposal for enhanced interaction with the EB

Upcoming Discussions by the DNA Forum On other CMP requests related to: demonstration of additionality to PoAs and the definition of eligibility criteria for PoA component projects; application of PoA to activities applying multiple methods and technologies, including for possible city-wide programmes; timing and implications of the introduction of new rules and decisions; procedures for the use of nationally established GEF as approved by the host country DNA; standardized baselines and prioritized methodologies.
