EPOS WG7 Keith Jeffery

Management 14 members  need to register on website as WG7 – extensible membership Chair: Keith Jeffery Vice-Chairs: Jean-Pierre Vilotte, Alberto Michelini Propose liaison persons with each other EPOS WGs WG7 Workshops: separate or linked with other EPOS events? 6months? Bring in external experts to assist? Between workshops: Forum on website

Tasks First list of tasks Need timeline – but related to other WG plans Essentially 4-year plan

Tasks1 Task1: internal survey services, data/software resources – WG7 proforma to collect from other WGs and produce repository – prototypical metadata describing available resources Task2: external survey (other ESFRI projects and wider) relevant international standards and activities – WG7 proforma to collect and produce repository – prototypical metadata describing external resources, standards, influences Task3: definition of conditions & advantages of any infrastructure (European, national, local) in any relevant discipline joining EPOS. Interoperability criteria, legalities, rights, costs. – Advantages for different stakeholders – access, trustability, quality... – Tools, services provided at EPOS level from interoperability of national or project level infrastructures (cooperative operation)

Tasks2 Task4: work on use cases (requirements) to inform architecture design Task5: design architecture (reference model) for EPOS respecting European e-infrastructure (and fully international) and define minimum common functionalities required. Task6: gather roadmaps from each other WG and produce a WG7 roadmap for 20 years with conditions/steps for convergence to EPOS platform

Issues around resources Objective to encourage data resources, software resources, hardware resources, services to interoperate in EPOS Need to define conditions – benefits and expectations Traceability and acknowledgement – Usage, ranking?

EPOS e-Infrastructure within Context Rely on other developing e-infrastructures e.g. – EUDAT – PRACE/DEISA – Other ESFRI and other large-scale projects (LSST, ENVRI...) Produce virtual customised e-Infrastructure for EPOS based on this This is cost-effective and compatible way assisting sustainability

Other WG7 aspects Website development – dissemination, outreach, forums Education and training using the e- infrastructure
