Administrators Kick Off 2014 The Science of Implementation Practice: 1 to 1 Chromebook Take-Home Initiative Name: Ken Woods School: Lakeview Middle School

Stage & Scope of implementation Full Implementation: – devices taken home – bandwidth can handle the load – initial staff development – ongoing coaching/PD – Devices are being used regularly in all classroom – Evidence is in the classroom

History & Context Why was this THE idea to push to full implementation? All classrooms have Smart boards, document cameras, and speakers. Language Arts teachers have been sharing laptops carts between 2-3 teachers. We have two fully operational computer labs and a computer class with its own lab. 24 hour learning for students.

3 key obstacles and how they were overcome Infrastructure – work with technology department Teacher, student, parent buy in – know your staff/community, get the ball rolling early Staff development – Get someone good and hire a full time coach

Which DRIVERS do you have in place? Training – Initial “Wow” training, then ongoing Coaching – Full time Administration – Oversees and models Teacher leaders – Help keep the positivity flowing, role models, help with training and next steps

Non-negotiables Infrastructure Full time coach

Impact on students and staff Rejuvenated teachers Excitement on campus Student learning Positive climate

How will you sustain or grow the practice? Ongoing Professional Development – Build capacity using teacher leaders – Work with technology department and COE Replace broken equipment Purchase new equipment in stages, ex: 25% every year
