4/3 & 4/13 The President’s Dilemma Do Now: For Everyone 1.Put away all electronic devices 2.Take a handout from the black cart 3.Open your notebooks/binders (no laptops or tablets please) to a blank piece of paper. Title this page The President’s Dilemma. 4.Begin reading the Memo From the President. While you read, start a list on your paper of at least 5 important facts from this memo. If you finish early, please remain silent and take the time to either reread the memo, or investigate the chart on the reverse side. 5.This is individual & silent, with no electronic devices. To be clear, this means: NO TALKING OR USING ELECTRONIC DEVICES WHILE DOING THE DO NOW.

Current Problem Instructions: Review the memo & your list of facts. Below your list of facts, write what the problem and its cause(s) are as described by the President in the memo. You can discuss this at your table as you work, but everyone will need to write down this information in their notes.

Goal Instructions: Review the memo, your list of facts, & description of the problem. Work with the people at your table to come up with a written goal that will solve the problem. Everyone needs to write this down in their notes.

Data Investigation Instructions: Look over the data on the chart, and with the people at your table, discuss what you think it saying about the health of the economy for those years.
