Art Nouveau Morgan Petitpas (France )

“Art Nouveau” translates to “New Art” Art Nouveau was often shown through usable everyday objects, posters, and architecture. Art Nouveau used forms and patterns found in nature. Art Nouveau was characterized by smooth and rounded textures with intricate lines and flowering designs.

My Inspiration I chose Art Nouveau because I am often drawn to its organic shapes and convoluted patterns. I used the slab method and the hollowing method for my vase. Similarities between my piece and classic Art Nouveau pieces include: roundedness, two thin handles, elements of nature, cut-out sections, the blue-green color, and the fact that it is an everyday object.
