1.1 Introduction The field of information technology has been traditionally associated with business entities, institutions, and other constituents of the society. Information technology has always been a key component to allow exchange of business documents and information despite of geographical boundaries.

Throughout the last decade, information technology has been revolutionized. Unlike other fields of studies, information technology has changed the way people communicate. Personal and business communications of companies has been altered by , instant messaging, and other web-based applications. The proliferation of online reservation systems and online shopping sites, are one of those manifestations of information technology functionalities.

The traditional conduct of business transactions is gradually evolving online since anyone with a computer could gain access to information library. Needless to say, the impact of information technology had influence business executives and other entities. At the same time, it has been considered as a hidden economy which controls the flow of business operation smoothly. The application of information technology to business is considered as one of the secrets to a company’s excellence. This is one of those reasons why business forecasters eyed pots of gold in this field.

1.2 Background of the Study There are lots of institutions and establishments nowadays that are in need for online systems for them to cater a wide range of audiences. One of those is the International Graduate School of Leadership, an accredited, graduate-level seminary in here in Manila to develop servant leaders who have a passion for God and possess the biblical knowledge, Christ-like character, and practical skills needed to help the Asian church fulfill the Great Commission in this generation.

This was established not only for Filipinos but a nurturing community also for foreign individuals around the world who had their heart in serving God. Due to the firm competition among different institutions today, administrators and company executives were seeking for new ideas and new business rules to capture their client’s attention. The Administrative office of this institution records their events, reservations, and other client request in a calendar-like white board for them the track schedules, activities, and other appointments for that day.

The Administrators find it difficult especially in processing the client’s request. Then, a client needs to wait for the time without knowing about the updates or status regarding their needs. They require a web-based system that will deal and make out their client’s room and vehicle reservation. The researchers proposed an online room and vehicle reservation system. It is a type of transaction processing system that will assist and process the submission of request from the customers up to the school administrators.

The clients interact with the dynamic online system and the system will then respond about the status or updates with regards to the client’s request. Upon analysis of the company’s manual system, the researchers found out different problems. The manual reservation system which the company has been using consumes too much time starting from the process of filling up reservation forms, confirmation of the reservations, and noting the schedules on the calendar-like white board. In addition to, a client who desires to transact reservation with IGSL Company should go personally to the administrative office which is very tedious to clients with busy schedules.

1.4 Objectives The researchers will create a Room and Vehicle Reservation System in order to: Provide an efficient and effective reservation for room and vehicles for the administration of the company. Establish a secure online system which will enable the client to have a convenient way of accessing the school’s reservation. Develop an effective system that will alleviate and lighten the company’s burden concerning on their manual processing and operations. Also come up with a system that will monitor the school’s use of facilities.

1.5 Significance This study was conducted for the benefits of the following: For the Company: Administrator. The proposed system will be used by the administrators to monitor requests and respond to their client’s needs and inquiries. Students of IGSL. It will be easy for the students to make reservations because even if they are at home or abroad the system will be accessible through the use of internet. Guest/Clients. Reservation for guests will not be difficult because of the systems online availability and accessibility. For Other programmers/developers. This study will be very beneficial for the other programmers who are planning to develop a system having the same concept with this study. This study will serve as their reference to enhance and develop new ideas that pertains on reservations. Researchers. This study will boost the researchers’ skills in engineering applications that is suitable to the needs and demands of the business. Successful development of this study is the researchers’ edge in developing their future case studies and projects.

1.6 Scope and Limitation The major concern of the study is to come up with an online reservation system where clients will be able to log-in and view the school schedules. The system allows the client to choose a type of reservation on available dates and time he desires. More than that, the system also shows verification if a reservation is successful or not. The system covers only the reservation of the facilities such as rooms and vehicle of the school. It is limited to monitor and manage the reservation of the clients. The system will not be accountable to the financial aspects of the institution. It is not responsible to the payment and printing of daily reports. Moreover, cancellation of reservations will be handled and dominated by the administrators.
