The ICT Mentor Initiative is Part of the Master Plan 3 Initiative 1. Students need to possess competencies for self-directed and collaborative learning through the effective use of ICT; 1. Teachers need to have the capacity to tailor and deliver ICT-enabled learning experiences for students to develop these competencies; 1. School leaders need to provide direction and create the conditions to harness ICT for learning and teaching; and 2. ICT infrastructure needs to support learning anytime, anywhere.

Five Days Together in Singapore and Twelve Months Online 1. Understand the ICT Mentor Program and develop program resources for teachers 1. Explore the teaching and learning framework and develop framework resources for teachers 1. Review the role of an effective coach/mentor and develop resources for implementation of the program 1. Analyze and develop additional needed resources for ICT Mentors 2. Present, transfer resources online, and reflect upon personal learning as well as next steps for ICT Mentor preparation

Activities and Assumptions Model the curricular, instructional and assessment approaches which result in student directed learning and collaborative learning Carry Out a project based, authentic task throughout the professional development experience Develop resources which will support the ICT Mentor Initiative and their learning experience Regardless of your role or background, we assume that: 1. Objectives and Outcomes for Day One OBJECTIVES 1. Participants will be able to articulate what collaborative learning and self-directed learning looks like in the classroom when it is integrated with ICT skills; and 2. Participants will understand the roles students, teachers, key personnel and school leaders need to play in order for the ICT Mentor Initiative to be successful. OUTCOMES 1. Participants will use a project-based approach to: Launch a wiki designed to enhance and customize the ICT Mentor teaching and learning framework; and Develop materials for mentors to use to share with school leaders and faculty to acquaint them with the ICT Mentor Initiative and to articulate the value they can expect it to bring to their school and in reaching the goals of Masterplan Three.

12:00 PM – 1:00 PM LUNCH

1:00 PM – 2:30 PM Unpacking the Framework The ICT Mentor Framework will essentially guide the work of the ICT Mentors. That’s a BIG IDEA! It prompts an ESSENTIAL QUESTION…

TASKMini Project-Part A Leadership and Support: Unpacking the Framework Your job is to develop a guide or supporting materials for your mentors so they can understand the framework – You have permission to adapt the framework providing you provide adequate rationale for doing so. In interdisciplinary groups of 2 or 3, conduct an analysis on how the elements within the framework work together – How are they alike or different? What will you need to create in order for them to understand how to use it? Are there redundancies that can be eliminated? You will have 30 minutes to create a map for the framework based upon that analysis.

TASK Mini Project-Part B Leadership and Support: Unpacking the Framework Perform a Gallery Walk and 1. provide feedback 2. ask questions to deepen understanding After the walk review your feedback and discuss.

TASK Mini Project-Part C Leadership and Support: Unpacking the Framework Now, merge two groups together and blend feedback to create a guiding document for the framework. It needs to be something that mentors and teachers will understand and find useful.

2:45 PM – 5:15 PM School Leadership Resource Development Group Presentations of Guiding Documents Building Resources for Today’s Learning

TASKMini Project Leadership and Support: Unpacking the Framework Upon group consensus half of the teams will continue to refine framework resources. A list of needed resources will be generated upon completion of the presentations. The other half of the teams will develop presentation materials for mentors to use with school leaders and fellow teachers to inform them of the goals of the program and how they plan to benefit from its implementation. Presentations or works will be shared at the beginning of Day two activities as a recap and reflection of what we learned on Day one.

5:00 PM – 5:15 PM Wrap Up and Reflection Sign up for Web 2.0 Learning Groups for Day 2 Morning Sessions Before you leave, use your reflection wheel and write some brief notes as to the three most significant things you learned today, and drop any suggestions you have for the presenters into the suggestion box.
