HB 116 Jessica Logan Law

Can a district design its own curriculum?  Yes  Must document curriculum  Must document student completion

Internet Safety tied to E-Rate Funding  eTech and E-Rate eTech and E-Rate

 Offers:  Online Safety Training, 24 x 7 access  Student Curriculum/Tutorials  Parent Education/Resources  Professional Learning for teachers

Advantages  Learning Management System  Some automatic grading  Student Tracking/Reports for CIPA and E- Rate Compliance  Positive, spiraling curriculum that’s easy to manage  Can divide modules by grade level to make completion manageable

Other points to ponder  Interactive pieces are automatically graded  If technology is not available for each student, teacher can present the lesson to the group, and manually mark that the students have completed the required lesson.  Logs/Journal Entries/Teacher Led—Graded by teacher and marked as complete in system.  Minimum Scores—At discretion of your district.

Organizing your School/District  Curriculum Decision Maker(s)  District System Coordinator: Loading students, printing reports, etc.  Roll Out to Teachers/Training  Student Participation

Cost  eTech has funding for this project for this school year plus two additional.  If funding did NOT exist at the state level, access to this online product would be $ per building or a $2.00 student fee depending on enrollment.
