Welcome to Room 29! Mrs. Carranza 4 th Grade

Spelling Spelling: Choose 5 out of the 9 activities. Record each activity on the spelling log and have your parent/guardian sign it.

Activity 1 Make rainbow words. Write the word with a pencil. Then, trace with a variety of colors.

Activity 2 Make volcano words by adding one letter to each line.

Activity 3 Smooth out shaving cream or whipped cream on the counter. Use your finger to spell the word.

Activity 4 If it’s warm out, write the words with chalk outside.

Activity 5 Look up the words on dictionary.com. Listen to how each word is pronounced.dictionary.com.

Activity 6 Spell out the words with magnetic letters or scrabble tiles.

Activity 7 Type each word three times on the computer, using a different font each time. (This activity can be divided into 2 days) Hunt cheap shape

Activity 8 Using your finger spell out the words on a family member’s back.

Activity 9 Get a stick and spell out words on the sand.

Reading Homework Students must read 30 minutes EACH DAY. Monday – Thursday. We need to get to 4 th grade level. Do the 5 activities listed on the homework folder.

Reading Activities Activity 1: Read your AR books out loud to your family member(s). Have a discussion about the book. Activity 2: Read an AR book, and then fill out the summary sheet. Activity 3: Read an AR book to yourself then choose your favorite sentence of the book. Write it down on a piece of paper and draw a picture with it. Activity 4: Read an AR book to your self and fill out a rule sheet. Activity 5: Three out of seven days you can read NON AR books such as a comic book, a magazine, or a book that is lower or higher than your AR level.

Library Card Go to your library and get a library card. Books with cassettes and karaoke are great and fun ways to learn to
