Oscillating Wiper Mechanism Constraints: Wiper Arm Must Be 200mm Wiper Arm Must Make 60 Degrees Of Oscillation Variable Speed Of 1 Cycle/Second To 5 Cycle/Second

Cam Design How It Works; At Different Points On The Cam, The Wiper Arm Will Oscillate Through The Specific Range Specified By The Cam Design. Additional Components; A Spring Is Used To Keep The Wiper Arm And The Cam In Compression For The Given Constraints, This Design Proved Impractical In Dynamic Representation and Actual Development.

Gear Design How It Works; Input On One Gear Results In Output At Wiper Arm By System Of Gears And Links Driven By A Transmission. This Design Proved Impractical Due To The Area Restrictions Posed By Constraints. Design Also Proved To Be Over Engineered For The Required Application.

Transmission Design 1 How It Works; Cone Shaped Design That Allows A Variable Radius By Manually Changing The Belt’s Position On The Cone. By A Change Of The Radius, Angular Velocity Will Vary Accordingly. Using A Constant Radius Pulley For The Motor, A Variable Radius For The Transmission Will Result In Non-Uniform Tension And Torsion In The Belt.

Pulley Link Design Motor: How It Works; A Pinned Wiper Arm, Link Connected To A Pulley Is Constrained To An Angular Displacement By Link Position And Angular Velocity Of The Wiper Arm Is Constrained By The Angular Velocity Of The Pulley. This Design Is Practical For Actual Area Constraints, And The Design Is Appropriate For The Desired Use.

Transmission: Pulley Link Design How It Works; Two Variable Radius Pulleys Connected By An Adjustable Rod, Connects To A Motor By A Belt System. Change Speed By Manually Changing Position Of Rod In Relation To The Pulleys. Smaller Radius Transmission Pulley Increases Motor Speed, And Larger Transmission Pulley Radius Decreases Motor Speed. More Efficient Design Results In Less Belt Tension And Belt Wear.
