Temperature Control in Hospitals:Operational Capability to be Provided: The remote control will relieve the patient from having to page a nurse when room temperatures become uncomfortable. The design includes the current remote control to set a certain temperature within a set range of temperatures. The temperature will be displayed onto the patients’ television (channel “Line”) where the volume buttons will either increase or decrease the temperature on the thermostat. The company TAC and Hospitals working with TAC have shown interest in this design through their LON networking. Operational Capability to be Provided: A small microchip that will hold the individuals vital information will be placed onto their Identification card. This will assist in keeping medical records for emergencies while in other areas. If the user is in an accident and knocked unconscious and no one knows who he is the database will be able to list any prior problems. All information could be stored in a database from the identification number, insurance, physician, and even dental records. Proposed Technical Approach: Task 1: Software Development -- Develop a Database to begin holding information, create the program for easy input from hospitals. Task 2: Design microchip with RFID capabilities to send out readable signals to the scanner. Task 3: Create ID specifications and placement of the microchip.
