Temperature Control in Hospitals:Operational Capability to be Provided: The remote control will relieve the patient from having to page a nurse when room temperatures become uncomfortable. The design includes the current remote control to set a certain temperature within a set range of temperatures. The temperature will be displayed onto the patients’ television (channel “Line”) where the volume buttons will either increase or decrease the temperature on the thermostat. The company TAC and Hospitals working with TAC have shown interest in this design through their LON networking. R emote D evice I nnovations Proposal Title: Remote Temperature Control within Hospitals Proposed Technical Approach: Task 1: Use Oscilloscope to distinguish the different signals coming into and out of the Nurse Call System. Channel Volume Task 2: Setting the thermostat from the volume control Set the boundaries allowed for temperatures. Set the temperature of the thermostat. Determining whether heater or cooler. Completed: Visual output to the television that displays strings sent from a micro controller. Will show the current temperature of the room. Schedule and ROM Cost : Task 1 two and a half months to understand all connections. Task 2 starts after task 1 for a period of 4 months. Final month and a half allotted for putting together final project. Total cost is estimated at $ Deliverables: 1.Technical report presentation 2.Final design of working product 3.Final Technical Written report 4.Users Manual for the System Corporate Information: RDI, Eric Robbins, 1111 Texas Ave, C.S. Operational Capability to be Provided: A small microchip that will hold the individuals vital information will be placed onto their Identification card. This will assist in keeping medical records for emergencies while in other areas. If the user is in an accident and knocked unconscious and no one knows who he is the database will be able to list any prior problems. All information could be stored in a database from the identification number, insurance, physician, and even dental records. Proposed Technical Approach: Task 1: Software Development -- Develop a Database to begin holding information, create the program for easy input from hospitals. Task 2: Design microchip with RFID capabilities to send out readable signals to the scanner. Task 3: Create ID specifications and placement of the microchip. To Date: RFID chips such as these have been placed into animals to distinguish ownership and records in a centralized database. Schedule and ROM Cost: Task 1 period of performance is 3 months. Task 2 starts after task 2 and is scheduled to take 4 months. Task 3 completes the project one month later. Total Cost = $ Deliverables: Technical report presentation Final design of working product Final Technical Written report Users Manual for the System Corporate Information: RDI, Eric Robbins, 1111 Texas Ave, C.S.
