Mentees Objectives … In Brief To develop staff capabilities in e-delivery using Moodle To develop e-delivery champions and mentors within the workgroup To increase the provision of e-learning in workgroup by 10% by end 2010

To increase the provision of e-learning in the Diploma of Events (evening/ external class) from 14% to 50% by mid 2011 To utilise Moodle as a core information resource for our students

Methodology … 1 Intensive small group Moodle training 1 x Mentor (Julie) 2 x ‘Students’ Introduced to alternative methods, software, and tools Support tailor made to individual’s needs

Methodology … 2 Firstly … Surveyed participants to gauge knowledge, skills and confidence – or lack of them Devised individual projects Secondly … Experimented Discovered, discarded and discovered more things Tried and ‘tasted' tools Then …. Surveyed participants who demonstrated an increase in knowledge, skills and confidence.

What we covered in the Program Demoodling the moodle Linking content to images Using books/webpages Learning how to add assignments How to create quizzes We explored Podcasting, and best places to store audio files,

Learning Journey … So Far So Good … … and yet so far to go The biggest hurdles: What we didn’t know The range and breadth of available resources Deciding what works in each context Time to think proactively rather than reactively Understanding how the student thinks and learns in an ‘e’ environment Consistent structure … helping us all find our course!

Learning Journey … WOW Moments “I now know what is possible” Self belief …. participants believe they now have the capability to be mentors in the workplace Participants enthusiasm is undiminished
