Character Counts “Intelligence plus character, that is the goal of true education.” - Martin Luther King, Jr. Designed to teach basic values through the six pillars of character:

Establish a Daily Routine Check your child’s backpack and assignment book nightly. Set aside a special reading time. Have a designated place at home for backpack and schoolwork. Establish regular habits for homework completion. Encourage your child to eat a healthy breakfast and get enough sleep.

Homework Expectations Record assignments daily in assignment notebook. Turn in completed homework on time. Take responsibility for learning. Missed assignment reminders sent home. Lose points towards grade for late work.

Monthly Reading Calendar Please make sure to monitor your child’s daily independent reading. Parents or student can fill out the calendar, marking nightly minutes read in each box on the calendar. Parents can initial each day, or sign the calendar before your child hands it in to be checked. Calendars due the first day of the next month.
