Society may be against the cloning of an extinct animal for religious, ethical, and moral reasons.
Bringing back an animal that has been extinct for thousands of years may have substantial effects on the food chain. If the cloning of the woolly mammoth is successful it will open the door the cloning other extinct animals, and even humans.
We believe that cloning the woolly mammoth may lead to both good and bad implications.

The woolly mammoths were thought to have gone extinct 4500 years ago. What we call the Woolly Mammoth was actually a particular species of genus Mammuthus, Mammuthus primigenius. Some woolly mammoths had 15 foot long tusks! Woolly Rhinos also existed!
