Classroom Rules, Procedures, and Consequences

About Miss Pertschi This is my 8 th year teaching Social Studies and 3 nd at CCA, I am also the SGA advisor. I grew up in Philadelphia and went to college at Flagler College in St Augustine- always living near history! I look forward visiting my family up north (but only in the warm months) especially since my brother and niece Alexis live there! You will find out about my love for Philly teams, the Phillies, Flyers, and Eagles no matter if they’re doing good or stink! I hope to share my passion of history with you and teach you how to have a successful year!

Classroom Rules L isten E nter and Exit Prepared A ctively Participate R espect Yourself and Others N o Excuses

General Class Rules No Food, Drink, or Gum allowed in the classroom. - The only exception is water which must be in a bottle with a secure lid. - No cans, soda or Gatorade bottles or plastic cups with straws. All food and drink needs to remain in your backpack/lunchbox. You may have a snack in the hallway between classes but it must be thrown away or put in backpack when entering the classroom. No writing on tables, whiteboard, textbooks or anything that’s not yours!  Please do not erase anything on the whiteboard either  You wouldn’t want someone to mess with your things… Borrowed items - You may borrow some items overnight to finish an activity, study or research for a project. -You must ask permission and use the sign out sheet. It must be returned in the same condition it was taken.

Disciplinary Consequences 1 st Disruption – Warning to Student 2 nd Disruption – Contact Home via /Phone 3 rd and 4 th Disruption – Classroom Detention 5 th Disruption or More – Written Referral to Dean of Discipline

Entering the Room Enter the room quietly, remember no food or drinks beside water allowed! Sharpen pencils, get any supplies needed and sit in your assigned seat BEFORE the tardy bell rings Please try to keep backpacks as out of the way as possible such as under your table or chair to prevent accidents  Do not keep your backpack on the table, chair or on yourself Take out your notebook everyday and quietly work on bellwork independently and immediately Take out any homework that was due for that day, make sure your name is on it and place it in a neat pile in the center of the table

Exiting the Room You will be given permission to clean up and pack up.  Clean up and return materials to specified areas when used  Stack textbooks neatly in the center of the table Make sure all trash and materials have been removed from your area Place your chair under your table and check for all belongings Exit in an orderly manner Throw trash out on the way out

Restroom/Leaving during class Fill out your planner  Include LOCATION and TIME (Example: BR 9:45) Raise your hand to indicate you need permission and a signature  Avoid asking during lecture, review, discussion, or testing Once your planner is signed, TAKE IT WITH YOU! Don’t forget to bring it back from where you were

Turning In Work All homework/assignments are to be completed when you ENTER class  If you are caught finishing an assignment during class, it will be considered late Make sure your NAME is on your assignment  If it is more than one page, make sure your name is on each page if it is not stapled Make a neat pile of papers for your table and I will collect them If the person next to you doesn’t place their assignment into the pile, be a good classmate and remind them!

Trash Disposal Gather any and all trash at your table  Avoid throwing trash away during instruction, presentations, group work, homework review, or testing Take the most direct pathways to trash can Return to your seat quietly THE CLASSROOM IS NOT A GYM….  DO NOT “THROW” TRASH INTO THE TRASH CAN LIKE IT IS A BASKET BALL HOOP

Getting Your Attention If I need your attention as a group… 3, 2, 1...  Stop  Look  Listen If I need to repeat the countdown I may hold the entire class the amount of seconds it takes for everyone to get quiet and listen!
