Types of Families Nuclear: A mother, a father and at least 1 child Single-Parent: Either a Mother or Father, and at least one child Blended Family: Single parent marries another single parent, building a new family. May have stepparents, stepbrothers and sisters. Extended: Relatives other than parents living in the home (Grandparents)
