Humanitarian Relief and Supply Chain Management Smith & Dowell (2000) called the humanitarian relief supply chain networks in rapid onset disasters as ‘‘incident organizations’’. Fitzgerald (2004) named the same as ‘‘collaborative entities’’. Furthermore, since most natural disasters are unpredictable, the demand for goods in these disasters is also unpredictable (Cassidy, 2003; Murray, 2005).

Humanitarian supply chains Humanitarian supply chain are mostly unstable, sometimes the supply chain breaks at the receiving end. Humanitarian logistics again is characterized by large-scale activities, irregular demand and unusual constraints in large-scale emergencies (Beamon& Kotleba, 2006).

Humanitarian Logistics: Humanitarian logistics is defined as ‘‘the process of planning, implementing & controlling the efficient, cost- effective flow of goods and materials as well as related information, from point of origin to point of consumption for the purpose of meeting the ultimate requirements of the end beneficiary”
